  • Aquatic Awareness & Safety - enter the water safely, how to be safe in deep water, how to move forward and backward in the water, pool rules
  • Water Confidence Building – submersion, bubble blowing, star floats, pencil float, back floats, mushroom float
  • Flutter Kick
  • Push and glide
  • Rules of behaviour in, on or near the water
  • Water safety knowledge at a swimming pool

  • Breast stroke wedge kick
  • Diving Basics

  • Threading water
  • Signal distress and call for help
  • Back float sculling 30 sec

  • Breaststroke – 25 metres
  • Survival Backstroke – 25 metres
  • Threading water 1 minute • Straddle Jump

  • Swim through hoops, place 2m apart using flutter/dolphin kick

  • Backwards somersault in the water.

  • Survival Backstroke – 50 meters
  • Sidestroke – 25 meters
  • Butterfly  – 15 metres
  • Flip turn
  • Swim underwater for 3m through hoops and resurface

  • Throw a flotation aid to a partner 3m away and instruct the partner to kick to the edge
  • Retrieve a personal floatation device in water and fit it while treading water
  • Learn about rip currents at beach and how you can escape should you find yourself in one

  • Scull, float or tread for 5 minutes (incorporated in Survival & Activity Skills)
  • Perform ear equalisation
  • Swim through hoops on pool bottom for

  • Backstroke – 100 meters (3:20 minutes)
  • Survival Backstroke – 100 meters
  • Sidestroke – 50 meters
  • Butterfly – 25 meters
  • Scull, float or tread for 5 minutes (incorporated in Survival & Activity Skills)
  • Perform ear equalisation
  • Swim through hoops on pool bottom for 5m
  • Compact jump
  • Making survival float with clothing
  • Heat Escape Lessening Posture (H.E.L.P.) technique with the self-made float
  • Side stroke tow (non- contact) 10 meters
  • Principles of watercraft safety
  • Recognising an Emergency
  • Principles when performing a rescue
